Smoke Alarm Program

Through partnerships with the American Red Cross and the Burn Institute, the Oceanside Fire Department offers free smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector installations for Oceanside homeowners through our program. If you meet these qualifications, fill out our form and someone will contact you shortly to complete the sign-up process.

 Once registered, we will set-up an appointment time to install alarms up to California State Fire Code in your home free of charge.

Qualifications: Must own the home in Oceanside and it must be your primary residence.  Rental properties (short or long term) will be disqualified.  If you are not in Oceanside, contact the Burn Institute at smokealarm@burninstitute.org

If you are renting, contact your property manager or the property owner to ensure that your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are being maintained and replaced per State law.

The City of Oceanside Fire Department Community Risk Reduction Division welcomes the opportunity to share our resources in our community whenever possible. Please remember when planning a visit to a fire station that all our stations are on duty 24/7 and we are not able to take units out of service for public outreach/education. We will do our best to have a Fire Prevention Specialist assigned to the event to assist with the presentation.
