In order to promote coastal access for everyone, the City of Oceanside Lifeguard Division maintains a Beach Wheelchair Program. Thanks to a generous grant from the California Coastal Conservancy, we have four beach wheelchairs that are available on a first-come, first served basis. Beach wheelchairs can be checked-out from our Lifeguard Headquarters – located at 301 N. The Strand, or our Junior Lifeguard Headquarters – located at 1304 N. Pacific Street. Beach wheelchairs are available from 8:00 every morning until one hour before sunset. Beach wheelchairs may be taken to the waterline, but we advise against rolling them into the water as they become very unstable. We also ask that they not be taken on the pier for the protection of the pier planks and the large pneumatic tires. For more information or to check-out a chair, please call (760) 435-4018.
