The Oceanside Police Department is excited to continue its Community Academy, a new initiative to strengthen ties between law enforcement and the community. The program provides residents a unique opportunity to learn about police operations, fostering transparency and collaboration. The Community Academy offers participants an immersive experience, allowing them to learn firsthand about various police divisions and their roles in ensuring community safety. Sessions will cover patrol operations, investigations, community policing, and other relevant topics. Through scenario-based training exercises and open discussions, attendees will actively engage with law enforcement professionals. Their participation will help bridge understanding, build trust, and encourage dialogue between the community and the police. The next OPD Community Academy is scheduled to begin Tuesday, January 14, 2025-March 4, 2025, (eight weekly sessions) from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. It is open to all Oceanside residents aged 18 and above who can pass a basic background check; no prior law enforcement experience is required. The program is free of charge and emphasizes accessibility and inclusivity.
